I just never actually went to the trouble to create an account...
And here we are!
I've been around since about 2002, and now decided to make an account because I'm about to start work on a platformer game, and I want your opinions.
(It may seem a bit presumptive, but I really like this idea, so I have licensed the unfinished project under a Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works license, I will change this once it's done.)
Thee idea is that the main character, for now named Alfeo, is the result of a testing program, wherein mutagenic cells were distributed to every part of Alfeo's body. Using the power of his mind, Alfeo can command the cells to change the physical aspects of his body, and in extreme cases, even grow new cells.
The testing on Alfeo was a complete success, the scientists cheered, and he rejoiced, but a representative from the military was there. Apparently the scientists had always inteded to sell the results for warfare, the lieutenant ordered Alfeo be killed immediately, lest he spill the secrets of the project to open ears.
Alfeo used his new found power to morph (this part will be based on the players choice of what stat they want to start in) into a different being, and based on which stat you chose, jump away (air), run away (speed), kill them (power), or break out by simply running through the walls (endurance).
Now I don't want to give out the whole story, but basically it's a platformer, and as you build up energy, you get enough excess to handle mutating again. Basically the 'mutation' screen, is simply a regular RPG stat screen. Every time you build up enough energy, you get one more point.
Now my main question is this:
Seeing as I have to draw every single stat combination, how many spendable points do you guys think would be enough, as well as max points that could be put into a stat? I had originally envisioned that each stat could be given up to 6 points to maximise it, and that you could have 10 spendable points. The problem with this is that it gives waaaaaay too many possibilites for me to animate.
So how many points spendable and max for each stat would still be 'fun' but not so much it would take months and months to animate?
The stats, as I envisioned them are:
Speed
Air
Strength
Endurance
If you guys have any better ideas for stat choices, or help with the story (or voice acting) it'd be greatly appreciated.
